This is a rare find! This gorgeous sterling silver and turquoise bolo tie is from Maisel's Trading Post.

It features an absolutely stunning BIG sky blue natural turquoise with some reddish matrix and grey quartz inclusions. It is probably from the Royston mine, but no way to know for sure. 1 3/8" x 1" gemstone. It is secure in the setting.

The tips are also sterling. The silver is heavily tarnished. The back of the bolo has the Maisel's kachina shopmark and is hallmarked sterling. The soft leather cord shows some fraying and wear. The tips are also sterling and appear to be hand made with stamp work and nice beads on the tips.

There are no dents in the tips. The sterling has a dark patina, but I see no damage to any of the silver or the stone! In excellent condition for its age. Approximate measurements: Bolo Slide: 1 7/8" x 1 1/2" Tips: 2 1/2" Overall length about 39" Total weight in grams: 44. Initials/hallmarks: Maise'ls Kachina shop mark and Sterling.

Maisel's shop was started in 1923 in Albuquerque, New Mexico to make jewelry and souvenirs for the Route 66 tourist trade from the 1920's to 1960's. Native American silver smiths were employed to make the jewerly, so this bolo was most likely made by a talented Navajo silversmith. Items are enlarged to show detail. I leave patina intact so you can decide to polish or not. Any description or mention of type of turquoise is my best assessment; Please examine the photos and draw your own conclusions.
