EARLY FRED HARVEY ERA Art Deco/ Native American STYLE 1899-1910 RARE Variscite

  
This is absolutely a stunning piece, my favorite! Made around 1910 in the art deco/ edwardian period by Fred Harvey Company. Also known as Rail Road jewelry or Fred Harvey era jewelry. I assumed it was green turquoise but have also been told it is a beautiful, near solid, dark green variscite, a similar mineral to turquoise, but it is comparitively rare. This jewelry was popular with tourists traveling through the American Southwest in the early to mid-20th century. While turquoise was the most common gemstone used in Fred Harvey jewelry, other stones like variscite, coral, and jet were also sometimes incorporated. The stones are all in perfect condition with no chips or cracks. The stones are all tight in their bezels. The main stone is polished smooth (as are the other 16 stones), and the white areas are natural inclusions, not damage. I've owned this piece for over 20 years and have never cleaned it. It lays beautifully over the collar bones and top of the chest.

Sadly, I've only ever worn it a handful of times, which I regret now that I need to sell it.
