Navajo Fred Harvey Silver Dangle Earrings 12.4 Gms 1950's Vintage Tucson Estate
From a Skyline Country Club estate in Tucson and one of several I believe 1940's / 1950's or so Southwestern wearable artworks acquired there is this striking pair of large Navajo silver dangle earrings. Strong old style prepared stamp embellishment to the dapped stirrup shaped hoops adds measurably to "the look". The duo clearly adheres to that higher benchmark of confident hand accomplished detail that characterizes the best of period artisanal efforts. Put another way, this sort of Fred Harvey style spectacular is what you hoped for on those mid century road trips to out of the way trading post rest stops in the hinterlands. The pendant ornaments are currently with French wires - a definite wearing bonus for most. Weight is very good for the form at about 12.4 grams on my portable digital scale. Condition is quite fine with a nice aura of time to the silver surfaces. Be aware I have avoided every urge to refresh away "improve" upon any natural toning - you want that done you do it.
There are no discernible faults to mention for accuracy, and the ear wires are instantly ready for that next soiree (or even every day if you are of that spirit). All typical and expected evidence of previous service simply validates the history.
A look at the pics should give a good idea of appearance and condition. Size of each is about 2 11/16 in. On the dangle with the wires.
The pendant ornaments are about 1 15/16 in. Vertical including the suspension loop and 1 21/32 in. Horizontal - and yes, they will be noticed.
If you prefer vintage for drama and a road less traveled, or simply wish a single immediate improvement to the ambiance of each day, these will have great meaning for you. Listing and template services provided by inkFrog.
