The I believe 1920's or possibly 1930's desk necessity has all of the appropriate visual charisma (read "the look") and was crafted by an artisan who clear knew what was what - I've seen flimsy versions, and this has nothing to do with any of those. It also falls within the broad genre of so-called Fred Harvey Southwestern silver work crafted for well heeled locals who embraced the local flavor and "Indan Detour" visitors.

Here there are no walking dogs or arrow motifs - there are, however, clear elements of period tribal aesthetic. Weight is good for the form at about 14.4 grams on my portable digital scale.

Condition is quite good though not absolutely perfect with an attractive aura of time to the surfaces as seen in the pics. The turquoise set is well preserved. I have avoided any polishing or "improving", though an easy job if you feel the need. There is an ancient bend at the extreme tip from purposeful use - it is not such a severe thing and could be straightened by someone competent, but its there and I'm not that guy. There are otherwise just usual and expected signs of period service, here simply serve as more evidence of a history. A look at the pics should give a good idea of appearance and condition - a classic genuinely old Southwestern letter knife that will look great on a desk in Santa Fe or wherever you live.

Size is about 5 9/16 long and 19/32 in. I'm not sure what else to say, so there you are.
