Navajo Fred Harvey Turquoise Silver Bracelet Squash Flowers Gila Monsters 1940's

  

From a long forgotten box in my office closet and a Tucson estate some twenty years ago is this I believe 1940's or so Navajo silver bracelet with an attractive 13mm turquoise centerpiece flanked by decidedly uncommon turquoise set 3-D squash blossom ornamentation. The metal is clearly rolled ingot, with charismatic gila monster lizard and classic arrow stamps elevating things even further. The bracelet harkens to the so called Fred Harvey era when much Southwestern jewelry was crafted in more wearable formats for visitors. There is that desired aesthetic and every bit of "the look" you want - nicely compounded by those seldom seen sculptural squash blossom embellishments. You can find numerous straight forward examples within this genre that were specifically meant for casual day visitors to Albuquerque, and then there are the special ones like this baroque beauty - for those with an eye, something you won't encounter on another arm at that next occasion.

Weight is good for the form at about 26.1 grams on my portable digital scale. Condition is quite fine with a nice aura of time to the silver.

Be aware I have avoided every urge to refresh away or "improve" upon those naturally patinated surfaces - you want that done, you do it. The well preserved turquoise stones show lovely coloration. Typical and expected (and in that sense desired) signs of previous wrist duty simply validate the history. I'm nitpicking for the obsessive here, and a look at the pics should give a good idea of appearance and condition - a wearable artwork that will look great worn about in Santa Fe or wherever you live.

Inner circumference is about 5 3/8 in. Plus the 1 1/2 in. Vertical at the front - so yes, it will be noticed.
