Very good thunderbird Fred Harvey VTG sterling silver cuff bracelet

This sterling silver cuff bracelet is a classic example of vintage Fred Harvey jewelry. It has a large centered thunderbird, stamped symbols, a split shank and bezel set turquoise. According to a Harvey chart, the Thunderbird symbol was the sacred bearer of happiness unlimited.

The first symblol flanking the thunderbird is a cactus symbol. True to its nature, it represents protection and endurance. The symbol of the cactus is also believed to help with enduring tough situations. The arrows are said to stand for protection as well. Not a bad thing to have wrapped around your wrist. This particular bracelet has one bezel-set rectangular turquoise stone of blue, green and brown color (6 x 10mm). There is a crack going across the width of the stone, but it is very firmly fixed in its setting. This may have been caused by a natural matrix or general wear. Also there are two old repairs at the tips of each wing. A previous owner must have bent the bracelet too hard and cracked the metal a little. The repair seems sound, but the right wing has lost some of its definition. There is some marker on the inside of the cuff that should come off with silver polish or wear over time. This piece has some vintage patina, as photographed. Overall, this piece is in good vintage condition; it should be gently handled when fitting.
