Please scroll to the bottom of this ad for a list of terms/definitions. We will be happy to help you with them! ITEM: Here is a Vintage Old Pawn Navajo Silver and Turquoise Concho Belt. Silver, Genuine Turquoise, Red Coral and Jet Chip, Leather Belt.

The belt measures approximately 57" long and 1 1/2" wide. The buckle measures 2 1/8" by 3 1/2". The loop measures 1 5/8 wide. The twelve conchos measure 1 1/2 square.

Total weight (including belt) is approximately 357.4 grams. There is one inlay with a very tiny hairline crack, but it appears to be sealed and secure, and is very hard to spot without magnification. It's probably been there forever. DESCRIPTION: This is a very rare, antique belt! Frontier Buckles crafted items for the Fred Harvey tourist shops along Route 66.

The Fred Harvey legacy dates back to the 1880s, and the well documented history has even made it into the movies! Their Navajo Craftsmen did superior work in that era, and this concho belt is no exception. We have never seen, nor can we find, any others like it, which leads us to believe this was custom made for the owner of Frontier Buckles himself.

Each concho (and the buckle) shows intricate inlay silversmithing that depicts a classic Southwest peyote bird. Turquoise, coral and jet have been finely carved and precisely placed into a geometric pattern, making each design colorful and vibrant. Silver lines separate the inlays beautifully. Hand stamped borders and'rope' style silversmithing are skillfully shown on each concho. The solid buckle has scalloped, elegant borders and deep stampings across the surface.

The loop is in great condition. The thick, brown leather belt shows some aging.

But is in excellent wearable condition. It has several pre-drilled holes, with additional extra length for custom fit possible.

This iconic piece of history is truly worthy of any museum or private collection. Outstanding craftsmanship from a long gone era! The buckle is signed "Frontier Buckles" and is also stamped'Sterling'. Definitions: We are very clear in our ads when we state EXACTLY what an item is constructed from. If you do not know what the different types of silver and turquoise are, please read this.

Nickel silver: Once called German silver, silversmiths have used it for the last 100 years in jewelry making. Although it contains no actual silver, it takes the same amount of work and craftsmanship as sterling. Many collectors prefer it over sterling as it does not tarnish as easily and quickly like sterling. Genuine turquoise: This is actual turquoise stone. Because turquoise stone is very soft it is usually stabilized in one way or another by clear sealers etc.

So it does not scratch so easy. It has been used in the southwest for over 50 years.

It actually requires more labor than natural stone because of its hard consistency. It is harder to carve than stone. Estate jewelry: This is jewelry that is previously owned. It does not mean that they are antique or even vintage. It does not even mean the item was previously worn.

Some items may be only a year old but came from an estate. Vintage jewelry: If we feel an item is 25 years old or older we call it vintage. Old Pawn Jewelry: Our definition of Old Pawn is an old item that is high enough quality that a pawn shop back then would allow the owner to pawn it.
