This was common practice in the 40s and 50s in the southwest and the Navajo silver smiths used a split shank technique to mount the stones and centerpiece. Trading posts like Bell trading post and Maisels followed the original Fred Harvey stores in commissioning Navajo silversmiths to make jewelry that would appeal Travelers through the southwest.
They hired Navajo artisans to create designs that reflected the styles of the time and were often lighter profiles than traditional Native American pieces. Using natural turquoise with silver smithing and stamping along the sides this bracelet has some rare features like the raised silver arrows, detailed concho designs around the arrows and of course the wonderful chunk of natural turquoise set inside crosses arrows. The piece MEASURES 18.5 MM WIDE. THE INNER CIRCUMFERENCE IS 5.5.THE GAP OPENING IS 7/8 WIDE. My wrist is a 6.25 inch wrist (as pictured) so there is room to contract the bracelet or expand a bit too. This has a vey contemporary look even though it is a highly collectible piece of vintage Navajo silver work. Can be worn alone or stacked- see pics and feel free to inquire about any of the other pieces pictured. FRED HARVEY ERA OLD NAVAJO COIN SILVER TURQUOISE & CONCHO CUFF BRACELET.
